Kate Tempelmeyer is the Director of Media Services at NET, a PBS and NPR Station located in Lincoln, Nebraska. She has been in the Public Broadcasting and Media system since 1987. Her career at NET has spanned multiple disciplines including Information Technology, Broadcast Engineering, Media Management and Live Streaming.
Kate's career projects include being one of the first adopters of VMware, designing an Open Source CMS, automating file-based workflows for media distribution and becoming an expert in PCI-Sarbanes Oxley security compliance requirements. She designed and built NET’s first live streaming farm with 12 encoders with her team in 2008. Kate was one of the founding officers for PBS TAC, the PBS Digital Distribution Committee and the PBS Information Technology Steering Committee. Her most recent contribution includes serving on the PBS Metadata Committee to develop and adopt system standards for broadcast and digital services. She is currently conducting multiple POCs for NET focused on tiered cloud storage, transcoding and distribution operations enhanced with AI.
